Lockdown Award

British Theatre Dance Association – Lockdown Award 2020

An examination session will be held on Friday 12th February 2021.

All exams will be after 4pm

Entry Fee: £12 per student (candidates can use their scholarships)


Candidates need to prepare a performance of at least 1 minute but no longer than 2 minutes: 

  • A routine that has been taught by the teacher or
  • An own arrangement or
  • A song, poem or mime.

A costume is optional, although suitable dancewear must be worn for dance performances.  Siblings could prepare a duet/trio etc if they wish.  Students may enter more than one performance.


The examination will be run through the Zoom platform and the Examiner will be the host, the teacher will also be present during the session for safety reasons.

  1. In line with the session timetable, the candidates will sign on and enter the Zoom waiting room.
  2. The Examiner will admit the candidate to the session at the appropriate time.
  3. There will need to be a parent/guardian present to film the candidate and play the music if needed.
  4. After the performance, the candidate will take their bow/curtsey, be thanked and removed from the session.


Candidates will receive a medal, certificate and comment sheet after the exam session.  As this award was introduced in 2020 the medal and certificate will state this.


The routines will be practiced in the weekly class. If you require some 1:1 lessons there will be a limited amount on offer @ £8 each.
